No searching!! I want off the top of your dome or your best guess. Tell me the vehicle and then place these chassis codes in chronological order:
W108, W111, W112, W116, W126, W128, W140, W180, W220, W221, W222

Give the ordering a try. I want to see if guessing these at random will yield the correct order since it’s the same method Mercedes used!

S-Class.
W180, W111, W108, W112, W128, W112, W116, W126, W140, W220, W221, W222....?
I’m way better at BMWs than Mercs.....

I figured no one should “know” these. Give it a go anyways!

They’re all S-classes and they all look in order already apart from W128 and W180. I’m pretty sure from W116 to W220 is in order, but other than that I’m just guessing, so I’ll guess W128, W180, W111, W112, W116, W126, W140, W220, W221, W222. If you had done BMW chassis codes, probably would’ve known those for sure

Oh come on, go for it!

Who cares because MB hasnt made a good car since 1990?

W108, W111, W112, W116, W126, W128, W140, W180, W220, W221, W222
Whatever happened to chronological order.... Like W100 W101 and so on....

Insert W108 in your list real quick before you check your answers!

W180 (grandfather had one), W128, W111, W112, W108, W116, W126, W140, W220, W221, W222
I might have messed up the W128/111/112

I’ll take that answer if you put the 7 out of 11 that do matter in order then.
![]() 05/03/2016 at 22:00 |

it’d go before between W180 and W111, leaving that one off was a copy paste error

I like the w116

Mercedes, Mercedes, Mercedes, Mercedes, Mercedes, Mercedes... other than that?

You’re pretty close as well! Everyone seems to stumble over the same two or three models (but knowing about 8 out of 11 is damn impressive).

You’re pretty close as well! It seems like where W108 falls is the biggest killer of them all.

MB S class and I don’t know the order. I don’t even know BMW 3 series past the e46.

Sonderklasse Mercedes
W180, W128, W111, W112, W108, W116, W126, W140, W220, W221, W222
Although the Ponton, Fintails, and W108 aren’t S-Class as such, and the W111 and W112 are both considered S-Class in heritage, but due to differences in engine offerings, generally the W112 is considered the “S-Class” of that era since it offered higher specification and options not available on the lesser W111.
Do I win anything? Like the “Biggest pedant of the massive pedant collection that is S-Class owners” award?

s class, W222 was the last one, and that's pretty much all I know. I'm pretty good at generations besides mercs

S class
W180 W128 W111 W112 W108 W116 W124 W140 W220 W221 W222? I know everything from W116 up but I'm hazy about post war through 1970, except for the mighty W100.

Ummm what ?

The last two (at least) aren’t anything. Technically they’re coded “V”, which IIRC somehow translates to limousine. Interestingly, almost no one who works with Benz uses the letter codes, except for “S” and “X”. Sorry for being that guy.

Well, the W126 has to be, like, 10 better than the W116. Of course.
